Our Mission

By year 2009, the Decofunctional Inc. (DFI), shall be engaged in producing quality handicrafts both for local and international markets. DFI will maintain in Manila a factory run and operated by a total of about 100 committed, loyal, hardworking, dependable staff comprised of 70 regular in-house staff, and of 30 regular subcontractors. Most of the staff and subcontractors shall be mainly engaged in developing, producing and manufacturing in large amount high quality handicrafts.

A significant attribute of DFI will be its commitment to come up and maintain globally acceptable products, both decorative and functional; to originally developed in the DFI factory using indigenous materials found in the island of the Philippines , and to eventually generate employment for its workers.

Our Vision

The Mission of the DFI is to manufacture quality handicraft products to meet the demands of foreign and local buyers; to utilize raw materials indigenously found in the islands of the Philippines ; and to generate sizeable employment with particular preference to members of the women-groups and of those who had no formal education.

In support of this Mission , DFI is committed to:

  • Develop new products/designs that would be responsive of and oriented to the various demands/requirements of the buyers;
  • Manufacture in-house most of the handicraft products with close supervision to ensure high quality;
  • Market the products to as many local and foreign buyers as possible;
  • Utilize indigenous resources in manufacturing and merchandising;
  • Be recognized by its employees and colleagues in the business community for excellence and integrity in managing the Corporation's businesses;
  • Provide a work environment for achieving personal and professional advancement and excellence for all who work in DFI:
  • Develop/enhance talent, skills, knowledge and ideas of the employees who are committed, loyal, hardworking and dependable;
  • Put all processes and systems (i.e., production, financial, check and balance systems, procedures, rules and regulation etc.) by coming up with a DFI;
  • Diversify to other endeavors/activities which are related to that of manufacturing handicrafts, such as master carton production, trucking, sub-letting, etc;

Our Objectives

  • Develop regularly new designs and products (i.e., at rate of 10 new products/month) for the DFI buyers;
  • Be in-contact, on a regular basis, with old, new or prospective buyers to solicit product development directions (i.e., requirements that can be used as inputs for product development);
  • Contact prospective buyers at a rate of one buyer per month, or three (3) buyers per quarter, or six (6) buyers per year;
  • Send employees to work-related skills enhancement trainings/seminars to upgrade their capabilities;
    Improve in-house technical capabilities and logistics (e.g., equipment and processes) to hasten productions without compromise on the quality of DFI's products;
  • Develop capable sub-contractors and satellites that produces quality DFI's products;
  • Attend both local and international shows/trade fairs, for exposure on new trends, and for opportunities of meeting new buyers and establish rapport with them;
  • Identify indigenous materials (at a rate of two raw materials per month) that can be used in the developing new products;
  • Enlist in business community organizations (e.g., exporters' and manufacturers' organizations) and regularly send representation to their meetings;
  • Improve physical working condition in the factory for health and production purposes;
  • Establish a “Decofunctional Inc. Manual of Administration and Production” or “DECO-MAP” to manualize all operations, transactions, recordings and computerization of DFI's systems and processes.
    Identify other possible activities not directly related to handicrafts manufacturing but which could generate extra employment (e.g., master cartons production, trucking, sub-contracting, etc.)
    Inculcate discipline and values to DFI workforce, to enhance respect on their work and to maintain their self-esteem;
  • Enhance commitment to social responsibility by giving preferences to workers belonging to the women's group, to the less educated workers, or those who are not able to get formal schooling; and
    Responsive to saving mother earth by producing environment-friendly products.
