QEX Philippines, Inc. (QEX PHIL., INC.) was
established in March 19, 1992. The company
specializes in exporting custom fashion jewelry,
jewelry components, table tops, home accents, gift packaging, and party
favors.
In April 1999, the company built and moved into
its own office building with its own warehouse
located in the central part of Cebu City and
Mandaue City. The strategic location made the
company more accessible to the airport for
incoming and outgoing air shipments, as well as,
to the pier for ocean or local boat shipments.
The location also made it easier to coordinate
with its various suppliers north and south of the
city and the different provinces.
The owners of the company espouses a work ethic
and philosophy that has established a solid
reputation among suppliers and employees alike
that allowed QEX PHIL to enjoy relationships
engendered with loyalty and cooperation. Until
early this year, QEX PHIL is a well known rare
entity among Cebu fashion exporters, who not only
extends cash advances to small cottage industry
suppliers at zero or minimal interest for
purchase orders it gives, but also pays checks on
time upon completion of deliveries.
QEX PHIL is a highly organized small company, and
is fully computerized in its recording and
operating systems. It has a very well defined
hierarchy of positions and functions, as well as
very well clear, specific and written guidelines on its workflow.
Most of the company's employees, though not
having highly professional degrees, are "plodders" who get the work done when needed, and
highly motivated by its system of income sharing
that was enjoyed by them whenever the company was
making a good profit. Plans are under-way to
further innovate and improve new discipline in the workplace.
The sister company and marketing arm of QEX PHIL,
- Q-EXIMTRADE, INC. which has its corporate
headquarters in Carteret, New Jersey (45 minutes
away from New York) has recently added a new
office in Orlando, Florida. This together with
its warehouse in New Jersey & Showroom just a
block away from the Gift Building District in New
York gives the company a better grasp of the US market.
Q-EXIMTRADE’s New York showroom was increased to
become double its size in 2006 after the company
realized that New York became ahead of the
Worldwide Fashion Industry as New York became the
first location in the series of worldwide Fashion
shows where trends are molded and are being set.
In the previous years, Europe set the trend –
starting a couple of years ago, New York is not holding that glory. At
present, the company’s current booked orders
and thousands of new designs is keeping each
single employee busy with a foresight of a great 2008 ahead.
